The Dolphins traveled to Bloomington IL on April 25-27, 2014 to compete in the BNSC Long Distance Challenge Meet. Approximately 250 swimmers competed in this early-season meet to prepare for the upcoming Long Course season.
The Dolphins fared well during the three days and surprised their coaches with some new best-times. Lauren Frazier, 12, took home high points honors for 11-12 girls as she earned 6 first-place finishes in 10 events including the grueling 400 IM, 500 free and 200 fly events.
Tyler Frazier, 7, was the top 8 & under swimmer and also took home high points awards for his category. He had a huge time drop in his 200 yard freestyle. The Meet Referee event congratulated him on on that one.
Leo Lin, 12, won the boys 100 yard breaststroke event and set a new boys’ team record of 1:21. Drew Tushaus placed third in the 400 yd IM and top 10 in several of her events as well.
Evan Ren and Kyle Frazier each dropped time and added 100 yard freestyle to their growing list of USA Regional Championship times. Ren, 11, placed in the top 10 in several of his events, including a big time drop in his 100 yard breaststroke.
Elizabeth Hammock, Ryan Huseman, Savannah Howerton, Valerie Howerton and Graham Wright all dropped time in their events.
Coach Michelle sends a special ‘shout-out’ to Ryan, Leo, and Evan for surviving their first-ever 200 fly in a meet. The boys dreaded the race all weekend, but they are seasoned ‘pros’ now. Good job guys!
