We had an impressive 25 swimmers qualify to swim at this season's Fall Festival of X-Cellence at Princeton University. In a season already marked by unprecedented time drops, SCY had a cumulative 229 seconds dropped while earning 54 Career Best Times!
A few Swordfish earned over 10 seconds of improvements in their events alone: Nicole Donnelly earned Career Bests in 5 out of her 6 events, totaling 13.93 seconds; Alyssa Amorim attacked her 200 Breast dropping 12.77 seconds, in addition to drops in her other events totaling 18.33 seconds of improvement; Clare Schwartz went to prove that 9 year olds can get the job done too, swimming the 200 Free to a 9.16 drop- that, with her other events, earning 22.35 seconds of improvement; the highlight of Michael Pacholarz’s drops was an 11.43 drop in his 200 IM, for a total of 28.34 seconds on the weekend; Catie Lovett made Mama Trish proud with her a drop of 24.18 seconds in her 200 IM, towards her weekend grand total of 45.02 seconds; and Jake Riva astonished all by earning 47.19 seconds of improvement, including the top drop of 28.42 in his 200 Back.
Other highlights were time drops earned by Henry Bysshe (9.95), Hannah Calderon (9.64), Brooke Gardner (4.46), JJ Kane (.11), Thomas Kane (3.1), Ben Lee (1.08), Lisa Pallis (1.95), Abby Panzarella (8.05), Emily Rothamel (.66), Sam Russell (.33), Cody Ryerson (4.55), Margaret Wilk (9.63), and Abbey Gardner (.87). Abbey impressed all in attendance with her mental and physical toughness when a last minute schedule change moved her 500 Free up 20 minutes earlier than it was supposed to be- and right as she was climbing out of her 200 Fly! She caught her breath, stood up behind the block, and swam a great 500. Something few 10 year olds, if any, have ever done!
In addition, 26 YMCA State Times were earned by Nicole Donnelly (50 & 100 Free, 100 Fly, 200 IM); Abbey Gardner (50 & 100 Free, 100 Back, 200 IM); Brooke Gardner (100 &200 Back); Sam Russell (50 Free, 100 Fly); Henry Bysshe (100 Back, 50 Fly); Michael Pacholarz (100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Fly, 200 IM); Jake Riva (50, 100, & 200 Free, 100 & 200 Back, 200 IM); the Girls 11-12 200 Free Relay (Amorim, Lovett, B. Gardner, Donnelly); and the Girls 200 Medley Relay (B. Gardner, Wilk, Donnelly, and Amorim). There were also 20 YMCA Silver Times swum.
And Samantha Russell dropped her 50 Free time down to a 25.80, earning a NJ Swimming JO time!
