Swimming Entry Update
2015 Pan American Games
UANA wishes to confirm to our National Federations that swimming results from the 2014 Commonwealth Games may be submitted as eligible entries for the 2015 Pan American Games.
Performances from last summer's Commonwealth Games swimming competition in Glasgow have been added to the database and will be accepted as qualifying entry times for submission to the Online Meet Entry System (OME) prior to the entry deadline of May 4, 2015. A reminder that the qualification deadline for all performances is May 1, 2015.
A proposal was received from the UANA Technical Swimming Committee earlier this month advocating the inclusion of performances from the Commonwealth Games. The TSC's recommendation was unanimously approved by the members of the UANA Executive Committee only in the last few days.
Current Wording in the Swimming Technical
"Each NOC may use proven times swum during the Qualification Period for those swimmers who have met the qualifying time standards established by UANA for the 2015 XVII Pan American Games."
"This minimum standard of performance shall be achieved at a competition recognized by FINA from the official list of approved qualifying competitions for the Kazan 2015 FINA World Championships."
The Toronto 2015 Organizing Committee has endorsed the recommendations submitted by UANA.
A future revision to the Technical Manual for Swimming will reflect the fact that swimming performances from the 2014 Commonwealth Games are eligible for swimming entry to the 2015 Pan American Games.
