Masters Meet At SCY

Over 40 Masters swimmers converged on the Sussex County YMCA this weekend to compete in our bi-annual Adult Mini-Meet. The athletes, ranging in age from 21- 87, swam in a variety of events including 50s and 100s of each stroke, 100 and 200 IMs, and a challenging 1,000 Free.

One of the many highlights came at the end of the meet when 85 year-young Paul Kiell of Berkeley Aquatics set a new NJ Masters record in the 85-89 year-old 1,000 Free with a time of 19:07.18. The previous record of 20:28.20 was set by the late Austin Newman in 2004.

Congratulations to all of the swimmers, and a special thanks to our Swordfish parents, coaches, and swimmers who came out to run a great meet.
