Highlights of the meet:
Andrew Davis’s 200 free in trials was spectacular! He swam it perfectly and posted on of the fastest times an EBAT swimmer has ever gone! Great job, Andrew!
Andrew Doss’s 100 fly was very impressive, dropping 5 seconds and beating Andrew Davis!
Both of Eric Clemensen’s breaststroke events were very exciting. He almost went a 59 in the 100, and in the 200, he dropped 12 seconds!
Jessica Mi’s 100 free was swum with a bloody nose. It seems Jessica bumbed her nose while climbing out of the warm up lanes to get to her race. She was on the blocks taking her marks as her nose was bleeding. She swam her race unfettered, kept to her race plan, and got a best time!
Both of Monica Gong’s backstroke events were awesome! Sometimes it’s tough to take time off of your best events, but Monica managed to drop a considerable amount of time in both of her best events, bringing her to a higher level of competition!
The following week, Coach Mark and Donny Watts traveled to Austin Texas for Junior Nationals. Donny qualified for 100 breast and 200 breast. The facility was amazing! Donny’s 1st swim was 100 breast and was just OK. He didn’t get a best time, but very often, a swimmer’s 1st experience at a national level meet can be nerve racking, to say the least. The next day, Donny swam 200 breast and did an excellent job. He got a best time, and swam the race perfectly!
Great Job, Donny! You represented your EBA club very well and we are all proud of you!
Introducing Da Di!
We finished up our fast swimming with the newest member of the senior group – Da Di. Da was on the CVHS swim team last spring and proved to be quite a competitor. Da immigrated from China just over one year ago and has spent much of his time learning English. By late summer, he was able to join EBAT. Da is a very hard worker, friendly and soft spoken. He had some difficulty entering meets this fall, so his 1st meet had to be the SRVLA CBA+ in December. He also could only swim on Sunday, so his first USA meet with EBA ended up being one of the most miserable weather meets we’ve had in several years.
That didn’t matter to Da as he swam excellent races in 500 free, 100 fly, and 200IM! Great job, Da! I look forward to more excellent performances from you this spring!
Great Job to all!!
