Hello Lake Shark Families!
Seasons greetings from budding Lake Kandle. Spring has sprung so now its time to amp things up for the swim season.
In this update, you will find information for those of you seeking employment for
your aging up swimmer, suit information, meet schedule, and practice schedule.
If you would like to stop receiving team updates, please email me to remove you from the list.
I’ve already received notice that I will need a new scoring department organizer.
If you were an organizer or you were heavily involved in a department last year, please let me know if you intend on returning.
Likewise, if you are interested in becoming a department organizer or would like an opportunity to be more involved with the management of meets, please email me at [email protected]
Potentially Working at Lake Kandle:
With the swim team aging up, I’m anticipating a larger field of applicants. Before the swim team, I always had an abundance of applicants but most of the rejections were non-members. Now employment will be increasingly more competitive.
Even if your child is not yet 15, but is hoping to work here one day, starting early by being a good teammate and mentor to younger swimmers does not get overlooked.
1st Year Employee Requirements:
Must be at least 15 years old.
To apply must be a current member or referred by a current member.
(Preference given to current members)
Must be available to work all three holiday weekends.
Must be available to work the majority of scheduled shifts for the last two weeks of the season when established employees typically leave for college.
If employee reaches 230 hours, employee's membership fee (and if applicable, swim team fee) are refundable. Example if the employee is a part of a family of 4 with and is 1 of 2 children on the swim team, the family is refunded the difference between Family of 4 and Family of 3 along with the difference between 1 swimmer and 2 swimmers.
Volunteer hours can also be applied to the hour total to reach incentives.
Helping out with the younger swim team groups.
Helping out with group swim lessons.
Helping out at Lake Kandle events.
All volunteer credit must be signed off by a coach or activity supervisor.
Lifeguards require certification in Lifeguarding, CPR, and Waterfront. As of the last few seasons, we are the only facility offering waterfront. We offer that course the weekend before Memorial Day.
The general Lifeguard courses can be found through the red cross or at Rowan, Riverwinds, GCIT, YMCA, Jersey Wahoos, and other indoor swim facilities and should be taken prior to the waterfront class.
Please also include contact info of 2 character references.
Suits: (see attached picture)
I have switched over to D&Q for suits. They’re a much more reliable retailer and I am looking forward to working with them to make the suit purchasing experience easier for everyone. They’re been doing it for a long time and they stand by their products.
We won’t run out of sizes.
They also offer exclusive team discounts for other swim products.
The suit price isn’t as low as last season.
$60 for Girls, 39 for Boys

The league added 4 new teams that have been placed in the bottom division. Since we finished 2nd in our division last year, we were bumped up into the middle division.
We will have 5 meets vs our division and 1 meet vs Ramblewood Silver. Ramblewood has a very large team and this allows some of their swimmers that don’t participate in scored heats to swim vs us.
Sat 6/18: HOME vs Aqua Barons (morning)
Sat 6/25: AWAY at Elmer (morning)
Fri 7/1: HOME vs Ramblewood Silver (morning)
Sat 7/9: AWAY vs Tarnsfield (morning)
Sat 7/16: HOME vs Collingswood (morning)
Sat 7/23: HOME vs Peachwood (morning)
Peach Bowl: Details TBD. Usually last Tuesday of July
SSA: At Ramblewood
Saturday July 30: 5-12 year olds
Sunday July 31: 13-18 year olds
Insider Info on 2017:
As you may have heard, we’ve been meeting with contractors and banks about adding a new zero entry pool as well as expanding the current pool 3 lanes.
Why 3 lanes?
- Because it would make us the largest outdoor competition pool in Gloucester country.
- It would allow us to host Peachbowl without having two heats.
After feedback and further consideration, the new pool is currently set to be placed where the current pool parking lot is.
Everything sounds like a go, its just a matter of getting the best price and the best financing.
We’re hoping to have a digital display on the final plans available by Memorial Day.
