GCY's Annie Carr Signs with Nova Southeastern University in Florida!
River Mill Academy senior Annie Carr, who trains and competes year-round for the GCY Makos, has given her verbal commitment to Nova Southeastern University Class of 2021! Annie is a Sprint/Middle Distance Freestyle Specialist, and is a consistent multiple finalist and top 3 swimmer at NC High School State 1A/2A Championships. Annie also has several YMCA National time standards, Speedo Senior Sectional time standards, and has set multiple team records for both her high school team and the GCY Makos. Her best time in three out of the four freestyle events would score at Nova's SSC Conference Championships and all of her freestyle times are very close to NCAA D2 Championship B-cuts.
"I chose Nova Southeastern University because I believe that I can continue to grow as a swimmer and a student. The environment of this University provides a sense of unity and I feel as though I can evolve as an individual. I feel like it's the right fit for me, and there will be a mutual companionship that will allow me to help the team and the team to help me."
