They say it takes a village to raise a child well I know it takes a team to run to meet. The meet Dartmouth Crusaders hosted this past weekend was a resounding success for both us and the swimming community.
It would not have been possible without the behind the scenes as well as on the ground work of a great many people. In particular thanks to Maria Batista for organizing the hospitality suite, Elena for on organizing the program sales, Beth for organizing the office , Pat for organizing the seniors, and Sheila for organizing the timers. They were great number of other DCSC volunteers helping out as caterers, salesman, officials and I'd like to extend my heartfelt thank you as we maintain our reputation for running well organized meet.
Novatech, February 25, Officials Needed
The next Novatech meet is scheduled for this Saturday Feb 25 at Centennial Pool. As at all meets, attending clubs are expected to provide officials which are critical to the running of a meet. This is even more important as the NT meet is only metro wide. The meet is relatively short and we guarantee the best sit in the house. If you are able to help officiate please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your preferred positon (eg.. timer, S&T chief timer, etc.).
Congratulations to all of our Juniors Swimmers who attended the Wolfville Juniors meet. Special congrats to the following swimmers who were the aggregate point winners:
1st Place 13 – 14 girls: Paige Rhuland
3rd Place 13 – 14 girls: Marion Synishin
1st Place 15 and Over girls: Emma Cockerill
2nd Place 15 and Over boys: Dylan McKeen
David Fry Provincial Champs
Please note! The scratch date for the meet for the meet is Wednesday February 22nd
This is a four day heats and finals meet. Please check the order of events in the meet information and the swimmer entries. Swimmers are not necessarily entered on all four days depending on the event selection.
Swimmers with questions about their events should speak with their coach prior to the scratch date. Event selection is a discussion between coach and athlete only.
Due to deck space limitations, please note the advisory in the meet information that only athletes competing in the specific session, and only officials working in the specific session, and assigned club coaches are permitted on deck. All spectators are restricted to the designated spectator area upstairs. Please note, pending entry load, some of the bleacher area may be allocated to athletes.
Spring Clothing Order - Revised
As some of you may have noticed the order deadline for the Spring Clothing Order notice in the current issue of Splash had passed. There is not enough time to extend the deadline and still get the clothing delivered to the swimmers before the March Break.
If you wish to order these items for delivery in mid-April, please put your order in the Crusaders Mail slot before 6:00 pm Friday March 24.
As noted on the form, we can only go ahead with either the pants or hoodies if we have six orders for that item.
Please pay by cheque only if at all possible.
Reminder - Let’s be Heard! Local Pool Situation
As we all know things are a bit challenging right now in the Halifax area when it comes to pool space.
Dal is currently closed, the Sportsplex is closing for over a year on May 28 and other pools often have issues, be it maintenance, or fires, this year has shown us how limited pool space is in this city.
It is time for all of us to step up and voice our concern as parents of swimmers to our local politicians at both the municipal and provincial level.
You can write your own letter, or feel free to use the template that you can download here.
Swimming is a life-long sport. We need HRM council and Provincial MLAs to invest in a much-needed aquatic facility now.
Please remember to report your volunteer efforts to our participation points coordinator, Kelli Smith at email@example.com.
