Triton Swim Meet
March 14, 2017
Keyano had thirty-six 10 and Under Bears attend the 2-day Triton Sprint Meet this past weekend at the Beaumont Aquafit Centre. It was a great meet for these young swimmers - short sessions with races of 25m and 50m of each stroke; and many races in close succession. Of note, 7y old Sophia Chin was the top placing female Bear in 25/50 Fr, 25/50Bk, and 25/50 Fly. Sophia came 3rd overall in the 50 fly (57:29). Well done! Eden Bradley-Taubner (9y) from the RGC Bronze group excelled in the 25 Br (25:91) with 1st place overall, and in the 50 Br (58:62) for 3rd place overall. On the boys' side Aaron Foster shone, being the top placing Bear in 50 Fr; 25 Bk and 25 Br (2nd place for both); and 50 Br. Seven year old Tejas Mahabeer took 7” off his 25 Fly to come in 2nd place overall. In this event Keyano Bears took 2nd to 6th placings all within 0.5” of Tejas, including 7y old Peter Jamieson in 6th place in his first 25m Fly race. Lourvaan Govender was 2nd overall in the 50 Fly. Way to go Bears!! Awesomely there were no Bear DQ’s for any of the boys’ entries in the Fly events, However it is clear we still have work to do in breaststroke technique.
A big thank you to all the parents who got their swimmers to the event on time, especially after losing an hour of sleepnight. This was a fun and very successful meet.
