That’s a wrap for the Mantas at the Spring Championships in Edmonton.
Hunter & Naomi were at it again with some impressive swims during the third and final day of the meet.
Hunter went 3 for 3 PB’s today. He dropped 3sec in his 200IM from last months’ Valentine meet, 11sec in his 100BK from his last season’s PB and a whopping 40sec in his 400FR from his last season’s PB. Hunter managed to achieve his very first Para Can-Am time standard and can now swim at national level Para meets, pretty impressive for a 12 year old! Awesome swimming Hunter!
Elevating from prelims to finals is the name of the game in competitive swimming and Naomi Slee did just that in both her races this evening. She started the evening off with a very impressive 400FR, dropping 3sec off her PB & lowering the 11-12 girls 400FR club record even further to 4:50.26 claiming a 2nd place finish! She shaved a little more time off her 100BK PB finishing with a 1:13.52 just missing the podium by 0.18 sec finishing in 5th place. Those darn finishes, you win some you lose some :P
These two are no strangers to hard work, being pushed on a daily basis and definitely cringe at some of the sets Coach Mark makes them do. But that’s the name of the game and they understand that consistent hard work and avoiding short cuts will always pay off in the end! Well done this weekend Hunter and Naomi, you represented FMSC and Fort McMurray very well this weekend!!
Pictured is Naomi on the podium this evening after her 400m FR and Naomi & Maya doing their Youth Recognition Time march around the pool for their achievements in their Short Course events earlier in the season. As you can tell, swimmers handle their coach shoving a camera in their face while hooting and hollering a little differently lol
