GOLD HAT-TRICK FOR FINLAY AT WESTERN NATIONALS

Congratulations to all the swimmers who competed at Western Nationals last weekend, there were 3 new club records made by Kennedy in the Girls 15-16 Girls 200 IM and Finlay broke the 15-16 boys and overall club records in the 100 Breast and 100 Fly.

From Head Coach - Todd Melton

The competitions from our second cycle have just finished with Western Nationals in Calgary.  This meet showcases the fastest swimmers in the Western Provinces of BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Congratulations to Finlay Knox for getting gold medals in 200 IM, 200 BR, and 100 BR.  Unfortunately, Finlay got disqualified for his turn in the 400 IM otherwise he was in a good position for another gold medal.  Finlay also placed 9th in the 100 FLY in the B final, even though his time would have put him 4th in the A Final.

From World Championship Trials and Western Nationals Finlay has been selected to represent Team Alberta at this summers Canada Summer Games.  This is a first for our club and a huge achievement for Finlay to represent our small club as well as the province on the national stage this summer.

Emilia Hesterman qualified in her first final at this meet with a placing of 14th in the 100 BR.  Kennedy Loewen had a good placing in her 50 BK by placing 7, 15th in the 100 BK as well as a best time in the 200 IM that put her 11th.  Alycia Weber made the 50 BK final alongside with Kennedy and came 8th and placed 13th in the 100 BK.  Congratulations swimmers!
