The Folsom Wahoos were founded nearly three years ago and have grown significantly in size and in the quality of our program.
This weekend marks a milestone for the young Folsom Wahoos Swim Team. This week the Wahoos will send our first swimmer, Sebastian Herrera - age 12, to a senior swim meet. Sebastian will take part in the 4 day swim meet - Summer Sanders SENIOR LCM T/F meet to be held this weekend at the Roseveill Aquatic Complex.
SENIOR meets with senior time standards are not age group meets. At the very top of USA Swimming meets are are "open" meaning one's age does not determine qualifying standards. All qualifying standards are the same for all meet entrants regardless of age. There are a handful of 12 year old girls in the meet and our own Sebastian is the only 12 year old male in the meet.
As we enter our fourth year of operations, our goal is to attend more meets like this. Some meets are JR T/F - still "open" but easier time standards and others are harder. The time standards and psych sheet are posted on the Wahoos site under Summer Sanders event tab. All teenage swimmers should be looing at the time standards for this meet and work with Coach KK to make this a goal for fall and next summer.
Please join me in congratulating Sebastian Herrera. I am excited to have him represent the Folsom Wahoos Swim Team this weekend!
GO WAHOOS! Coach Kinsey
