Dimiter Zafirov led us in scoring on the first day of FLAGS here in Sarasota. Dimiter won the 100 m. free with a time of :57.9 [personal best by 1 sec], this is the fastest time ever swum by a 12 year old in the Manatee or Sarasota counties. Behind Dimiter in scoring was 12 yr. old Evan Keogh who took 3rd in the 800 m. free with a 9:36.5 [personal best by 28 sec], and then took a 6th in 100 fly [swam PB 1:09.4]. Luis Junqueira, 12 yrs., also scored twice with two personal bests. Finished 12th in the 800 free, 10:10.2 and 11th in the 100 free 1:03.5. Frank Runge scored 15th in the 800 free with a 10:14.1. Rounding out our male scoring was Alec Miller, 12 y., In prelims dropped 4 seconds in the 100 breast to go from 21st to qualify 16th, in finals at nigh he dropped another full second, 1:23.6, to finish 10th in the event.
On our girls side we had one scoring swim, Kenzie Leach, 12 yrs., finished 8th in the 800 free with a 10:06.7, a best time by 18 seconds.
The meet continues today through Sunday at the local YMCA at Potter Park. The 10 & under swimmers begin their meet today and the 11 - 14 yr. olds continue to meet the best swimmers from all over Florida. Come on down to cheer your teammates on. Finals will begin at 5:30 pm
