2017 Canadian Junior Swimming Championships
Toronto, Ontario July 26 th to 30 th , 2017
The Kamloops Classic Swim Club had 3 swimmers attend the 2017
Swimming Championships in Toronto, July 26 th to 30 th , 2017. Ryley McRae led the
Classics winning 4 medals over the weekend. He started off the weekend winning
the 16 & Under Boys 1500 Freestyle in a time of 15:35.87 while setting a new club
record and ranking himself in the top 10 Male Junior Swimmers (18 & Under Boys,
Ryley is only 16) in the world. McRae’s next closest competitor in the event from any
of the age groups was 23 seconds behind him. McRae won two Silver medals in the
200 Fly & 400 Freestyle, a Bronze Medal in the 100 Fly and he placed 5 th in the
consolation final of the 100 Freestyle.
Michael Dagasso swam personal best times in the 100 Free placing
50 th overall.
Dagasso placed 69 th in the 200 Fly and 52 nd in the 50 Freestyle. Keana Smart swam
well at the meet however, had two start infractions in her races disqualifying her
from the events.
