GCY Excites Crowd with BIG RACES at YNATS!

GCY Excites Crowd with BIG RACES at YNATS and ZONES!

Last night at finals, GCY had 6 exciting swims!  Heather Sigmon climbed to 13th in the 100 backstroke (5th in B finals), Virginia Gilliland finished 18th (2nd in C finals) in the 50 breast, and McKenzie Campbell was 14th (6th in B finals) in the 50 breast.  Then came the 400 IMs....McKenzie got right back in the water and finished 3rd in B finals in a 4-way battle for the win (first 4 swimmers were all 5:02-), then Ethan Knorr swam one of the top races in known GCY history, coming up big with a 2nd place finish at Nationals with a 4:33.37, another Summer Junior National time standard!  Crowd was literally going crazy as he was charging back for the win, if race was 3 yards longer he's a national champion!  Finally, the evening finished with a BANG, as the Girls 200 Medley Relay got 6th overall in the nights final event in A finals, congrats Heather Sigmon, Virginia Gilliland, McKenzie Campbell, and Omega Pinnix!

From time trials and morning prelims, MORE best times were accomplished by Katie Knorr (200 breast), Craig Herndon (50 breast, 50 free), Emily Knorr (100 back), Eliza Gesse (50 free), and Piper Burton (50 breast).  GCY is now well over 100 points as a team and in 13th place overall!

In other action down in Tupelo, Mississippi, GCY's Noah Rock went a best time 1:05.21 in the 100 butterfly, NC's top flyer in that event and finished 5th Overall!  NC is still in 3rd place overall thanks in part to Noah's big performances!
