Swimmers, Parents, and Coaches:
I am writing with important information about the start of short course season practice, practice times and locations, evaluations, registration, meets, and available Speedo merchandise.
As I said in prior communications, we will be starting practice on Monday, August 28. Practice will be Monday through Friday from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the high school for all Senior Groups, and all Junior Groups.
Evaluations for new swimmers will be on Monday, August 28 at the high school at 4:30 p.m., and will be supervised by Coach Katie Bateman (email address is Katie Bateman <firstname.lastname@example.org>).
Saturday, September 2, will be 8:00-10:00 am at Welch, and for all Senior groups and all Junior groups.
There is no practice for Novice Blue or Novice this first week.
Beginning on Tuesday, September 5 and continuing through Friday October 6, practice for all groups will be at Welch. All Senior groups and all Junior groups will be Monday through Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Novice Blue will be MWF from 5:00-6:00 pm. Novice will be MWF from 6:00-7:00 p.m. September 9 and 16 (Saturdays) will be 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Welch for all Senior groups and all Junior groups. Novice Blue will be 8:30-9:30 a.m. September 23 and 30 (Saturdays) will be 8:00-10:00 a.m. at Welch for all Senior groups and all Junior groups. Novice Blue will be 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Beginning on October 9, we will move back inside at the high school. I will send you the precise schedule for those days once we work out the final details with the Natatorium coordinator and other District personnel. The time blocks that we will be using, though, will be 4:30-8:30, and the days and lengths of practice will follow the same pattern as above. Through November 16 it will likely be earlier in that block. Once high school starts it will be later in that block.
Tracie Doucette, our treasurer, has registration ready to go live, but we are waiting until we have final word on our schedule from the School District. We believe that this will be Monday.
Our Fall meet schedule will be as follows:
October 7-8 WSY ABBC Meet
October 28-29 NLAC ABBC Fall Kick-Off Meet
November 17-19 WSY ABBC meet or Mark Braun Invitational
December 1-3 NLAC ABBC Winter Splash Meet
December 14-17 Team Pittsburgh Christmas Meet
I have boxes and boxes of Speedo girls and boys practice suits (all sizes), Vanquisher goggles, and NLAC caps. Price for girls suits is $15, boys suits $12, goggles $8, and caps $3. These are new and at a great discount from places like swimoutlet.com. Email me if you want any or if you have questions.
I also want to thank School District personnel, in particular Bob O'Donnell, Will Stout, Chris Weakland, Andrew Walls, and Patrick McClelland, and CRPR Aquatics Director, Todd Roth, and the CRRA Board for recognizing the importance and value of age group swimming, and working with us as we pieced together a schedule after 30 plus years of being based out of Penn State.
I also want to publicly acknowledge each and every NLAC Board member. They have collectively spent hundreds of hours since May and over a thousand dollars of their own money to make this work.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact other Board members or me if you have any questions.
Scott Etter, President
