September 5, 2017
J-Hawk alum, Bridgette Alexander, has been named to the 2017-18 USA National Team, in the 200 back.
We are so incredibly proud of Bridgette and all the hard work she has put in, to acheive this goal. Bridgette is a true example of how being self-motivated and willing to put in the time, can make dreams come true.
Bridgette Alexander was one of our 2012 Olympic Trial competitors. At that meet, she set 2 state records, in the backstroke events, for the 15-16 age group. In 2016, Bridgette represented Kentucky Aquatics (her college team), and placed 8th in the 200 back. This past summer, Bridgette was selected for the World University Games, in Tiawan, and placed 3rd, in the 200 back. This was Bridgette's first international experience.
In order to be selected for the USA National team, you must have a top 6 time, in the country, and they must be achieved at specific meets. The USA National team competes at 1-2 international competitions throughout the year (sometimes, these are hosted by the United States).
(sorry for the sideways picture - Bridgette had dinner with team members on September 3rd and shared her experiences)
