Congratulations to Ethan Harder for his selection to the 2017-2018 USA Swimming National Junior Team!!!!!!
Each year USA Swimming selects the top 18 and under swimmers to a National Junior Team just like they do to compose the USA Swimming National Team with all our the household swimming names we know from the Olympic Games and World Championships. Ethan Harder (BAC) was selected based off his performance in the 200 meter backstroke with a time of 2:00.12 which ranks him 84th place in the world in the event.
Ethan broke the Montana State record and BAC team record for 17 and over men with a time of 2:00.12LCM in the finals of the 200 meter backstroke at the 2017 Summer Long Course Junior Nationals taking second in the event. This time places Ethan in the USA Swimming Top 30 of the All Time 17-18 year olds in the 200 backstroke.
Ethan also broke the Montana State Record & BAC 17 & over team record in the 200 Fly (2:06.25) and also broke the 100 Fly BAC 17 & over team record (58:04).
On September 7 USA Swimming named the 67 members of the 2017-18 USA Swimming National Junior Team, honoring many of the nation’s top rising swimming stars for their performances in 2017.
“This year’s National Junior Team roster displays the incredible young talent we have within the ranks of USA Swimming,” said Mitch Dalton, USA Swimming National Junior Team Director. “Combined with the 14 athletes who made the National Team as high schoolers, the National Junior Team honorees are a credit to the amazing work being done by our tremendous club coaches and the programs that place an emphasis on competitive excellence.”
Three swimmers earned National Junior Team status in a team-high four events: Taylor Ault (Hacienda Heights, Calif./La Mirada Armada), Lucie Nordmann (Woodlands, Texas/Magnolia Aquatic Club) and Trey Freeman (Salt Lake City, Utah/Baylor Swim Club). Eight were honored in three-plus events.
