2017 SWAC IMX Challenge Meet Recap
Swimmers of the Meet
Exploration I-Leona Sackett
Leona has been working VERY hard at practice to become legal in all of her strokes. She was also a great helper in making sure she and her teammates were where they needed to be for their events.
Keep up the good work Leona and thanks for being a GREAT teammate!
Exploration II-Lily Hollandsworth
I put Lily in all 4 8& under events for her first ever SWAC meet, and even though she was a little nervous, she did AMAZING and was legal in all of them. Lily works hard in practice and always give her best. I am super proud of how Lily overcame her nerves and did an amazing job in the pool!
Congrats Lily and I can't wait to see what this season has in store for you.
Jason has been working very hard at practice and it showed at the IMX meet. He swam both the 100 breast and 200 IM for this first time and was excited for the challenge. I am very excited to see Jason continue to improve and grow throughout the season.
Congratulations and keep up the hard work, Jason!
Macartney dropped over 30 seconds in 3 events, she swam the 500 free for the first time under 7:30 and showed great growth in her competitive spirit. She has been working at a new level in practice and is becoming more focused everyday.
Congrats, Macartney...your hard work is paying off.
Hayden swam the 400 IM, 200 Back and 200 Breast, all for the first time. She did awesome and earned 13-14 Divisional cuts in the IM and Breast, and was less than 3 seconds off in the Back. Hayden is one of our Red group leaders and has been working really hard in practice, and she saw the results of that at the IMX meet. I can’t wait to see what she will do the rest of this short course season!
Even though we are at the beginning of the season, Kyla Tonsil
swam lifetime best times in all of her events at the IMX meet. Kyra
has been working very hard on fixing the things that she has
struggled with in the past season. This hard work was very evident
in her races and helped her to make huge improvements to her race
strategy which lead to time drops in all of her races. Way to go
Jack swam lifetime bests in each of his 3 events at the IMX Challenge. He dropped 14 seconds in the 200 Fly, 20 seconds in the 400 IM, and 78 seconds (!) in the 1650 Free. Jack has done a great job carrying over the momentum from his amazing summer season, and his great work ethic and attendance has really shone through at meets, particularly in these longer events.
Keep trying hard, Jackson!
Yehyun continues to be a great addition and leader in the National Focus Group. Since joining last fall, he has really committed himself to improving ALL of his strokes and events, not just those where he already excels, and the IMX Challenge was another good step in his process. Although he just missed a lifetime best in the 200 Fly, he dropped 18 seconds in the 200 Back and 3 minutes 25 seconds in the 1650 Free (seriously). We’re very excited to see the success that Yehyun’s hard work will continue to bring.
