PVA took 9 athletes to the Pentathlon Swim Meet at Smith College on Sunday (10/29) and had a truly amazing day! This Pentathlon Swim Meet takes place over the course of one day and involves the athletes swimming 5 events each. They swim an race of each competitive stroke (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) and then wrap up the meet with the 100 or 200 individual medley (25 or 50 of each stroke in one race). Once the meet has completed the host team adds up the times of all 5 events and awards are given to the top 3 athletes in their age group.
Zachary and Nick King participated in this meet as their first swim meet to have ever competed in and did a truly amazing job. Julia Goh and Tess Johnstadt also raced stiff competition coming out with best times in the 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke respecitvely. Sunny Cart competed in this meet as only her 2nd USA Swim Meet yet as a competitive swimmer and took 3rd place in the girls 8 & Under Age Group. Asa Stone had many awesome swims and also came out with a 3rd place overall finish in the girls 13-14 Age Group. Isaac Boyd and Cole Kuster raced to amazing finishes in the boys 15 & Over Age Group. They splashed in with season best times and top finishes! Isaac took an overall place finish of 2nd and Cole swam in with the 1st place finish for the age group.
"It's a pretty cool thing to have your athletes swimming well at this point in the season but also to see some of the larger teams raising eyebrows as we tally some pretty awesome swims! Everyone did a wonderful job and was awesome to work with!" said Coach Dave Dow.
Thank you to the parents for your support and congrats to everyone who competed in the Pentathlon!
