CAST Fall Splash and Thanksgiving!
The Fall CAST Splash was a resounding success thanks to all of our incredible parents that stepped up to volunteer so much of their time to make sure everything ran smoothly. The entire coaching staff cannot thank you all enough for your time and efforts. From the timing, to the hospitality, to the clean up everything ran perfectly and smoothly resulting in a meet that all the teams enjoyed immensely.
There are so many individuals that went above and beyond, not only putting in their scheduled time but hanging around long after their swimmers swam, and their work was done to continue to help out. A few of the names that come to mind are Julie Robillard, Marco Craige, Kip Taylor, Steve Hudlet, Shelly Sobeck, Dirk Fredekind, Christina Linford, Mary Hartman, and Tony Whiting – thank you all so much and all of the rest of you that I forgot to mention!
A huge thanks to the Kroc Center for allowing us to host the meet at their wonderful center and we sincerely appreciate their members who gave up their pool and gym time so that we had use of such a large part of the facility.
With Thanksgiving tomorrow our CAST family has one more thing to be thankful for – having such a great bunch of families on our team! I want to wish each and every one of you a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope you are all able to spend it with family, friends and loved ones. We are truly blessed!
We were certainly blessed with any number of outstanding swims this past weekend. One hundred and twelve of our swimmers showed up to swim and they all really threw down with outstanding efforts throughout the three days of swimming. While always hard to pick out swimmers of the meet, four swimmers really stood out throughout the meet. First off two team records where set by two of our swimmers; Zach Linford and Lauren Stephens both set team records in the 200 butterfly!! Showing just how tough these two swimmers are, we saw them endure this grueling race with strength and determination and they powered through and will get their names on the record board.
Two other swimmers also earned swimmer of the meet honors: Milan Saric on senior squad, who joined us just a few months ago, threw down in an incredible way and, often swimming with No Times in the slower heats, just blew everyone away with his performances. Remarkable times and just an outstanding young man who is a pleasure to coach.
The other swimmer of the meet, from B Squad, just had a breakout meet swimming to best times in every event by huge margins was Jarron Kremin! This young man brings a smile to every practice and works hard for his drops. He always thanks his coaches for hard sets, smiles at every opportunity and it was a pleasure for his coaches to see his hard work pay off so remarkably.
This was an amazing meet and the most swimmers we have ever had attend a meet. I want to thank all of our wonderful coaches for stepping up and working their stopwatch fingers to the bone during the meet. Rebecca Stephens, Kevin Eddy, Jade Sobeck, and especially David Dolphay for all the hard work they put in over a long and busy weekend. The meet was remarkable in so many ways with the afternoon sessions going down as the busiest I have ever coached in my career – in some heats we had eight of eight swimmers were from CAST, with stopwatches clicking a mile a minute. It certainly made the time fly by!
Finally I want to again thank everyone for all your hard work this past weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and are able to enjoy every minute of the holiday. To all of you – HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
