11 and Under's On Fire at Single Age State Meet

Age Groupers on Fire at the Single Age State Meet

Congratulations to the 11 and unders who competed for LAKE at the inaugural single age state meet Dec. 17-18th. Unlike the 12 and under state meet coming up in February, the single age state meet allows swimmers to compete against swimmers their own single age. It was a fun and exciting meet with many life time best time and new state cuts for the February state meet. The boys were eighth in scoring and the girls were third, giving LAKE an overall 4th place finish. Highlights include the 9-year-old girls 100 free relay and 100 medley relay becoming state champions and setting the meet record. The relays consisted of Allie Gordon, Sara Wiedoff, Kate Lucyshyn and Julianne Drake. Sara Wiedoff and Dani Stemper won individual state titles setting the meet records in the 9-year-old 50 fly and the 11-year-old 200 IM. Sara Wiedoff was third in the individual high point for 9-year-old girls.

Final Thoughts

It was a fun and fast inaugural event. We were proud to be a part of it. From the coaching staff side, we were very pleased at the performances by the kids. They swam very well especially those competing in their very first state meet. Thank you parents and grandparents who came out to support the team.
