Wilton Wahoos once again named Silver Medal Club

Today USA Swimming announced the results of the 2018 Club Excellence Competition. For the 3rd year in a row the Wilton Wahoos Swim Team received Silver Medal Club status from the sport's national governing body as recognition that the Wahoos are among the top 100 swim teams in the country. This prestigious program ranks all of the over 6,000 swim clubs in the country to acknoledge the best programs in the country for developing swimmers ages 18 and younger.

Only 200 programs nation wide are recognized each year in this program. The top 20 clubs earn Gold level ranking and those rated 21-100 are designated as Silver honorees. The next 100 clubs are recognized at the Bronze level. The Wahoos have been recognized as a Gold or Silver Medal Club each of the last seven plus years.  This year the Wahoos were among three Connecticut teams to earn a Silver Medal and were the 3rd highest ranked YMCA team the standings.

Each team’s ranking score is based on the FINA Points Table, a power point rating system that assigns point values to swimming performances based on the Gold, Silver or Bronze time standard. Starting with the 2017 Club Excellence rankings, Gold swims were multiplied by a factor of 2.0; points for Silver level swims were increased by a factor of 1.5.
