Last Saturday December 16th was a busy one for MSSAC, with three separate groups of swimmers participating at clinics and camps across the GTA.
The Toronto Pan Am pool was the host site for the OJI Fundamental Clinic, a technical clinic held in between sessions of the Ontario Junior International meet. Abdullah Khalil, Grace Malcolm, Connor Ironside and Ella McCollum were selected from our Blue Group to attend, gaining insight into starts, turns and stroke technique from coaches of athletes at the OJI meet.
Selected for a Swim Ontario ‘Learn To Train’ Camp, held in Brampton were Emelia Burczyck from the Regional Junior Group along with Sierra Toderel and Mateusz Powaloski from the Blue Group. Coach Ara was also in attendance at the camp. This camp was aimed at swimmers aged 9-12 years old and was selected from competition results.
The Central Region Fundamental Camp was also held in Brampton. From the Orange Group Lucas Pineiro and Mark Miekus joined Olivia Zander, Alison Kalman, and Anoushka Bose from the Blue Group. Coach Alexandra was selected to assist at the camp.
Both the LTT and Fundamental Camp had two pool sessions, a gym session and a class room session with guest speakers. The primary goal of these camps is to focus on basic training skills, including stroke skills, starts and turns including working with stroke count, streamlining and the relationship between training and competing. Congrats to all our swimmers and staff on their selection for the camps!
