Candy Cane Classic Report

 

The Candy Cane Classic Swim meet, held at the Grant MacEwan University pool had 37 Silver Tide Swimmers racing 200 times over the weekend with best times in 142 of the swims (71%). In all, 978.13 seconds were shed as the Silver Tide Swimmers enjoyed their last meet before the Christmas break.

Green and Yellow

531.48 seconds improvements and had 71% best times. They were swimming fast hoping for candy canes and prize tickets. There were no missed races again!!! And only 4 DQs total for these groups.

100 % Best times

Clarence Uy - 2 best times in 2 events, finishing 4th in finals for 100 Breast. He dropped 33.00 seconds.

Katie Bayley - 3 best times in 3 events taking 7.27 seconds off.

Big Time drops by seconds:

Thomas Quiqq - 2 best times in 3 events taking a huge 215.34 seconds off!

Adanya O’Gorman - 4 best times and dropped 58.21 seconds.

Layla Dagenais - 5 best times in 6 events dropping 57.71 seconds.

Ethan Sand -  4 best times improving 26.94 seconds.

Brooke Dagenais – 5 best times in 6 events, 21.51 seconds dropped.

Emma Dagenais - 5 best times in 6 events and dropped 18.16 seconds.

Logan Dagenais – 5 best times in 6 events, 17.47 seconds dropped.

Jordan Deacon – 5 best times in 6 events and dropped 15.04 seconds.

Brady Carr 3 best times and took off 10.88 seconds.

White

The White Group had a successful meet hitting 74 out 94 best times- 79%. We had 3 new Provincial Qualifying Swimmers. As a group the swimmers are improving quite well and are showing signs of making even more Provincial Qualifying times from more swimmers.

New Provincial Qualifiers:

Deneaka Chamczuk- Provincial time in her 100 Breast ,4 best times, 56.11 seconds,.

Parker MacKenzie- New Provincial time in the 200 Back, 5 Best times, 40.52 seconds.

Geno Gasperz- 2 new Provincial Qualifying times in Breast and 2 finals with 6 Best times.

Eli Betser - 50 Breast Provincial Time and 3 best times.

100% Best times and time dropped in Seconds (aka Jelly Beans):

Edita Mackay-5 best times, 45.25 seconds.

Henry Mackay -7 out of 7 swims, 1 Final, 30.05 seconds.

Congratulations to all swimmers that took part in the marathon of a meet. Seeing the Silver Tide swimmers improving and enjoying the sport makes it worth the time and effort required to compete and perform to the best of their abilities.
