For the second year in a row our Tsunami Swim Team achieved Silver Medal status in the USA Swimming Club Excellence program.
The levels are based on power points earned by each club's swimmers, 18 yrs and younger, not yet in College. Florida Swimming had only one Gold Medal Club, that was the local YMCA, there are only twenty Gold medal clubs in the country. Then there are eighty Silver medal clubs, Tsunami was one of six teams to earn that honor. The other four are Bolles School, Gator Swim Club, TBay Aquatics, St. Petersburg and T2 Aquatics. Additionally there are 100 clubs from around the country who earn Bronze Medal Status. those clubs were Highlander Swim Team, Greater Tampa Swim Assoc., SwimFlorida and Makos Aquatics.
There are 3000 swim clubs in USA Swimming, so being among the Top 100 in this national program says a lot about our team; athletes, coaches and parents. The program does not take into account the size of each club, most of the top 20 Gold Medal Clubs are between 500 - 2000 swimmers in size. In contrast our 200 swimmer team which is still growing in size and strength did phenomenally well.
Congratulations to us all!
