Midseason Recap

 

Over the month of December our team attended both the Capital Classic meet in Cary, NC and the Swim and Tri Winter Championships in Christiansburg, VA. Our team made huge statements at both meets and the team as a whole swam very well. The staff referred to both weekends as “monster swim weekends” and every time a swimmer achieved a best time they received a monster key chain. Going into the meets we ordered 660 monster keychains. After our weekend we were only left with 35! To say the least, our team swam really fast.

 

Another highlight of the month was at Capital Classic we placed 2nd place as a team. Capital Classic is a YMCA meet that hosts some of the top YMCA swim programs in the country. CYAC finished ahead of a couple of teams who have had a very strong national presence in the past. Way to go CYAC!

New State Records!

 

Congratulations to Thomas Heilman for setting 6 Virginia State records at Capital Classic. Thomas broke his own records in the 100 free (54.35) and 100 fly (59.70).

 

Thomas also achieved four new state records in the 200 free (2:00.92), 50 fly (27.27), 200 IM (2:17.02), and 50 free (25.23).
