PRACTICE CHANGES

Due to a UD home swim meet, Delaware Swim Team will not be able to use UD's Carpenter Sports Building pool.

~ Junior Nationals will practice on Saturday from 6:00-8:00 AM at New Castle.
~ Developmental swimmers should utilize the Developmental practice at New Castle from 4:00-5:00 PM.

Looking ahead, PS DuPont Middle School will be closed on Monday, January 15, and Friday, January 26.  Expect practice changes on those days.

WEATHER INFORMATION

We are preparing for possible practice changes tomorrow due to the snow in the forecast.  Delaware Swim Team will be sending out any practice changes or cancellations as soon as decisions are made, and they will be sent out both via email and the team's Twitter account (@DelSwimTeam).  As you may have realized with the last significant snow in early December, a practice status may change at the last minute due to road conditions observed by the coaching staff and/or the state.

DOUBLE LAST CHANCE SUB-JO & LAST CHANCE MINI MEETS

The Double Least Chance Sub-JO and Last Chance Mini Meets are now open for entries.

9 & Over swimmers should be using the Double Last Chance meet to attain Junior Olympic cuts, if close enough, or Silver Champs cuts.

8 & Under swimmers should be using the Last Chance Mini meet to update old times, and get times in as many new events as possible.

Entries may be changed by the coaching staff for both the 9 & Over and 8 & Under meets based on what your swimmer needs a time in, or what your swimmer needs an updated time in.  These changes will be made in order to give your swimmer the best opportunities at his or her championship meet(s).

PIRATE PLUNGE MEET

The Pirate Plunge meets are closed to entries.

Volunteer positions will open up a week from today, on Wednesday, January 10, at 9:00 PM.  Several families need to fulfill most or all of their service points.  These families should plan on volunteering at sessions that they have swimmers participating in.  More information will be sent out next Wednesday in the weekly news item, plus in a separate email to notify everyone that the volunteer positions are open.

WINTER STORM MINI MEET RESULTS

As of Tuesday the 2nd, Delaware Swim Team is still waiting for corrected results for the Winter Storm Mini Meet.  Delaware Swim Team is also waiting for corrected ribbons from this meet.

To ensure accuracy in billing as much as possible, billing for Winter Storm Mini Meet entries was held off on the January invoices.  These entry fees will be processed separately from the February 1 invoices; they will be processed once Delaware Swim Team receives corrected results.

TECH SUIT BAN

Tech suits are now banned in Middle Atlantic meets for 10 & Under swimmers.  This document mentions suits that are banned, and suits that are specifically not banned for 10 & Unders.

Keep in mind that different LSCs have different tech suit policies.  For instance, New Jersey LSC, which covers New Jersey from Trenton north, has a tech suit ban for 12 & Unders.  Other LSCs around the country, such as Maine, New England, South Carolina, Iowa, Arkansas, and Southern California all have various tech suit bans.

As of now, the Delaware Swim Team is not aware of any tech suit ban in Potomac Valley, which would affect swimmers attending the IMX meet at the end of January.  If the coaching staff finds out about a tech suit ban in an LSC that we will be attending a meet in, we will let the relevant groups and swimmers know about it.

SWIMAMERICA LESSONS

Do you have a younger one who wants to do swim lessons, or have a friend or neighbor looking for lessons?  Delaware Swim Team has organized a group lesson program at the New Castle pool on Saturday mornings for anyone interested.  Contact Coach Cole for more information on these lessons.

Thanks,
The Delaware Swim Team coaching staff
