Message from Coach Tim:

LTNC Families,

December was a busy month for the Life Time Northern California swim team. The month began with our two national qualifiers, Jonah Harm and Evan McCormick, attending the Junior National (West) Championships at the University of Iowa in Cedar Rapids. The meet was a success, as our swimmers improved their personal best times in seven of the eight events competed. This was an incredible experience for the swimmers, who were able to compete in one of the fastest pools in the country with the top senior level (18 & under) swimmers west of the Mississippi.

In mid-December, LTNC competed at Coronado High School on the outskirts of San Diego. This year we had nineteen swimmers (ages 8-17) that qualified and competed in the meet. This event is always exciting, as it is one meet of the year that groups swimmers of all ages and locations to compete for LTNC. The meet took place over three days of competition. The finals sessions each evening were very exciting, as LTNC posted many top-16 swimmers to compete for a second time.

Evan McCormick (15) competed in the following 4 events:

100 yd Backstroke (Time Trial) - 53.16

200 yd Individual Medley (Time Trial) - 1:54.19

100 yd Breastroke - 49th**

*Jonah currently ranks 56th in the country in this event among 16 year-old swimmers.

**Evan currently ranks 16th in the country in this event among 15 year-old swimmers.

I am very proud of both of these swimmers. The amount of training that goes into competing on this level is challenging daily. Both Evan and Jonah have worked countless hours on cardio and technique over the past 6-7 years to qualify for this meet. It was nice to see both swimmers grow and mature to this level and hold their own with some of the best swimmers in the country.

The weekend was great fun for Coach Julia and myself. It was nice to see swimmers improving and holding their own against some of the top swimmers throughout Southern California. All the LTNC coaches were happy with the results knowing the hard work, training, and preparation put in the past five months. Kudos to Coach Julia, Coach Caitlin, Coach Neeley, Coach Andrew, Elise Grice, Lauren Montague, and Joe Horchak for all the time put into making our program a success. I am looking forward to seeing all LTNC swimmers compete in the 2018 season.

Regards,

Tim McCormick
