There will be significant practice changes on the weekend of January 20-21 for Junior National and Winter Instructional swimmers.  Changes will be announced in next week's email.

Looking forward again, PS DuPont Middle School will be closed on Monday, January 15, and Friday, January 26.

TEAM EMAILS

Are you receiving all of the emails that the team is sending out?  The Delaware Swim Team administrative staff sent out a test email on the morning of Monday, January 8, in order to see who is getting the emails.  Since we can see through the Team Unify system who has opened the email, we can understand who is definitely getting these emails.  If you did not open this test email yet, please open it up so we know you received it.  If you cannot find this email, and thus did not open the email up, please contact Coach Matt at matthewaungst@freestyles.org, so we can get in touch with Team Unify in order to fix this problem.

WEATHER UPDATES

We will be adding another layer of communication to send out last-minute, immediate practice changes due to weather or other situations.  In addition to the team emails (please refer to the above about this) and the Twitter account (@DelSwimTeam; text "Follow DelSwimTeam" with no quotes to 40404 to get these tweets sent as texts, without having to sign up for Twitter), Delaware Swim Team is going to try and begin sending weather updates through text messages via the OnDeck app.

Please verify your cell phone number (SMS) in your Delaware Swim Team account.  The administrative staff will be sending a test SMS/text message on Monday, January 15.  This text message will automatically be going out to all verified phone numbers in Delaware Swim Team accounts.

Additionally, downloading the OnDeck Parent app gives you a mobile version of your account on the team website, and it gives us yet one more additional layer, by allowing us to send push notifications through this OnDeck app.

PIRATE PLUNGE MEET & VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

The Pirate Plunge meet is next weekend, January 20-21.  Please make sure that you look through the meet announcement ( A/BB/C meet announcement; mini meet announcement) for basic information.  We will have much more information on this meet in next week's Wednesday news item.

Volunteer positions for the Pirate Plunge meets will open tonight at around 9:00 PM.  An email will be sent out to everyone tonight when these positions are open.

Additionally, you can supplement your volunteering with hospitality donations.  You can sign up to donate here.  Please make sure to follow directions with these donations.

DOUBLE LAST CHANCE SUB-JO MEET

The Double Last Chance meet is the last meet for Delaware Swim Team swimmers to get cuts for a few championship meets.  Traditional swimmers should be planning on attending either Bronze Champs or Silver Champs, and both meets require times in events in order to enter these events, with Silver Champs having minimum qualification times.  This meet is a prelims/finals format, giving swimmers the potential to go for cuts twice (hence "Double Last Chance").

Since this meet is prelims/finals format, parents should be careful with which events they put their swimmer in.  For Traditional swimmers, events in which a swimmer is very close to obtaining a Silver Champs cut should be a top priority.  Obtaining cuts for other championship meets should also be a priority for swimmers attending this meet.

LAST CHANCE MINI MEET

8 & Under families have been notified of the importance of this meet in order to attain times in events that a swimmer doesn't have times in yet, and/or updating old times in order to prepare for relays.

Families with 8 & Under swimmers should think of the Pirate Plunge and Last Chance Mini Meets as complimentary meets.  Both of them are being used to prepare for Mini Champs.

By the time the Last Chance Mini Meet is here, 8 & Under swimmers should be in full Mini Champs mode, with an emphasis on trying to win this meet.

The coaching staff will be exercising the ability to add swimmers into other events on days where a swimmer is already entered, with the intention of trying to get that swimmer more times for Mini Champs.  You can expect to possibly see changes and/or additions to your swimmer's entries.
