This message covers many important items related to this meet, so please take the time to read it all.
As many of you know, CVAC has been hosting the NB Open Cup swim meet for over 30 years. A lot of time and effort goes in to hosting a meet of this caliber and it is very beneficial for our club to be selected as the host. We know that many of the younger swimmers don't yet qualify for this meet, but they will.
Hosting this meet comes with responsibilities for all the CVAC families. I know it probably seems like we are asking for a lot in terms of money, material donations and time - but we can't host this meet without all of your help! Each year, we provide food for all the officials and coaches (just like they do at every meet) but this year, because of restrictions imposed by the venue, we can no longer prepare food on site. That's why we are asking all families for a $10 donation so that we can purchase the food that is acceptable instead of families donating food items. We will be charging all accounts $10 to help cover this cost. If you do not agree with this donation, please let us know! You can send a quick email to Jocelyn and she will ensure your account does not get charged. The committee agreed that a $10 donation is actually easier for most families than purchasing and preparing food. Volunteers who want to help out restock and organise the food for the officials or work at the program table can sign up HERE.
This is a reminder that the deadline to submit your order to Angela for the optional meet clothing is Today (January 11). Information on this can be found HERE or the previous email that was sent. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept late orders.
Silent Auction Donation
Deadline has been extended to Friday, January 19th.
We are still looking for donations for our Silent Auction being held during the NB Open Cup - please don't worry about the dollar value of your donation(s) as there has been some auctions where a jar of homemade pickles has sold for thousands of dollars and some really expensive item were almost impossible to give away! So exactly how much you contribute isn't what's important, but your participation is since this is a Club Fundraiser which stands to benefit all or us - so we hope that we can count on you! Donation letters in both French and English are available (click on the language you need).
Please go to this sign up sheet Link to pledge your donation(s) ASAP so that I can start preparing the Bid Sheets, Promotional Posters as well as to ensure that your donor(s) are mentioned in our Swim Meet Program - I need this information as soon as you have it - preferably before the deadline if you can.
Elizabeth Boyd Tracy will be at the pool Monday evening (Jan 15th) to collect donations and Trevor or myself will be at the Pool the following Wednesday and Friday Evenings to make the final collections.
As part of the silent auction each swimming group is preparing a theme basket. Before Christmas we met with each of the groups and coaches. Each group chose a theme for their basket.
- Speed/blue. Movie night, home or away
- Bronze. Pets, toys & treats for pets
- Silver. A night of pampering
- Gold. Meet essentials, must haves for going to a meet.
** if anyone has the ability to obtain the large wheeled plug in hot/cold cooler that Canadian Tire sells please let me know, this would be our main item for gold, or we could collect anyone’s unused Canadian Tire money
I will be at the pool this & next Friday night between the end of gold/silver and the start of bronze/blue. Speed can bring their items on Saturday and give them to Ashlen.
We are hoping that every participates, if you are unable to bring items for the basket, we can accept cash and I will purchase items for the baskets. If you have any questions please contact Angela Mersereau.
We are happy to announced that we have a new potential sponsors for Platinum and one more bronze. So we now have 1 Gold and 4 bronzes sponsors spots remaining. We still have until this Sunday (January 14) to try to get more sponsors to submit their ad artwork. Please submit all confirmed sponsors and materials to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will need lots of help from officials including timers to maintain this high quality swim meet. CLICK HERE to sign up.
An unofficial list of our CVAC swimmers that so far have a qualification time for this meet has been added under the NB Open Cup event. Please do not forget to register your swimmer if they wish to attend. Deadline is tomorrow (January 12). Swimmers that only obtain their qualification time this weekend will still have an opportunity to register after the deadline.
Thank you all for your help in making this meet a big success!
