Happy New Year Everyone!
I hope everyone had a happy holiday season and safe start to the New Year. It is so great to get back to the pool and back to work. The first couple of practices of 2018 have been really fun, it’s been fantastic to see everyone.
Right now is a wonderful time in our 2017-2018 Short Course Yards (SCY) season. We have a seven short weeks till the SCY Championship season starts. Please check the websites for the meets that we are planning to attend in January and February. March is a very busy time. The LSC hosts 3 championship style meets to our area; Area 3 Championships, Junior Olympics (14 & Unders) and Senior Championships (15 & Overs). These meets are the top swim meets in the Florida Gold Coast and will be our focus meets that we want to have the best opportunity to prove to these young swimmers that their hard work is paying off. We STRONGLY encourage attendance at one meet per month. So now more than ever attendance at practice as well as participating in the meets are vital. All of the coaches and swimmers have been talking about the goals that each swimmer would like to accomplish. Help them unlock their potential and lets’ make a concerted effort to make sure that each swimmer has a fantastic end of the season!
On Wednesday, January 24th at 6:15 pm, we will have a parent meeting. During the meeting I would like to discuss the direction we are taking the club, a few of our philosophies as well as a few of the new ideas we have for the team moving forward. For example, I am working on locating a venue as well as a date to have a swim team banquet, probably to be held sometime in April, I would like to discuss a few special training opportunities; ie specialty weekend clinics as well as a training trip. We also have a new MCDA Swim Team Handbook that I would like to take a look at before the meeting, just in case you have any questions. The Handbook can be found under the Swim Team tab on our website.
Even though the remainder of the SCY season is coming soon, we need to take a moment and reflect on some really great achievements in the first half of the year. I would like to congratulate the following individuals and relays for setting New Club Records:

This is a very exciting time. I am so glad that you and your family is part of this great team. We really are a very unique group. We are comprised of 14 different schools, many different towns, as well as many different cultures. I am very proud to be the Head Coach here at MCDA! This is a team that is really only 5 years old and you are helping to lay the foundation of what this team will be for years to come!
