January 12, 2018
We have gone from -12 to 57, and then it is going to get cold again. What up Winter??!!???
I have to say how great the swimmers were racing in the very adverse conditions at Wilton for the Y State Championships. Being somewhat forewarned may have helped, but I was very impressed at the lack of complaining as well paying attention to specific details while racing. All swimmers were faced with the same conditions and I feel we really stepped up better than most. Carry that forward as we get closer and closer to championships.
We are getting closer and closer to championships and opportunities to race are limited. If you have not yet declared for the CPAC meet, please do so ASAP.
The training is going quite well. We have made a shift this week to an emphasis on kicking and to keep the kick intensity going through out the swim and then be able to kick it up another notch racing home for the finish. We still have a great deal of training to get done – a lot of details to be addressed and improved.
Championships will be here in a blink of an eye. Here is the countdown:
Ø Regionals = 48 Days
Ø Senior Champs = 55 Days
Ø Age Group Champs = 62 Days
Ø Y Nationals = 80 Days
Mid-terms are on the horizon for most with this holiday weekend offering a little extra study time. Please use your time this weekend efficiently. Practice, dryland, rest, study, hydration, healthy eating, etc. During the stress of mid-terms, it is imperative swimmers stay on track with their swimming routine. Do not let yourself miss practices if you can help it. Plan accordingly.
A few adjustments with practices over the next week, please make not of these changes:
Ø Saturday, Jan 13: Regular Morning Dryland 1130-1230
Ø Monday, Jan 15: NO AM Dryland 130-230 Regular Afternoon
Ø Saturday, Jan 20: Practice will be 630-930am
