Queens University of Charlotte swimmers Hendrik Faber and
have named the male and female swimmers of the week by the
Bluegrass Mountain Conference.
The Royals had back-to-back meets last week, taking on NCAA Division I institution Duke University on Friday before hosting fellow conference members Lenoir-Rhyne University and Limestone College on Saturday morning in the Levine Center.
Against Duke, Faber registered a first place finish and a second place finish. The freshman was the top finisher in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 4:31.29, more than four seconds faster than his next closest competitor. His runner-up finish came in the 1,000-yard Freestyle, finishing less than a second behind Duke's Matt Johnson.
On Saturday, Faber won the 1,000-yard Freestyle race with an NCAA Division II 'B' Standard of 9:31.13.
Stevens collected one win and three second place finishes during the weeked and was also a member of a relay victory. The senior had three of the Royals eight second place finishes in the meet, taking silver in the 200-yard Butterfly (2:00.35), the 100-yard Freestyle (51.26) and the 100-yard Butterfly (56.23). Her final time in the 200-yard Butterfly was just .08 off the pace of race winner Isa Paez.
She swam the second leg of the 400-yard Freestyle Relay against the Blue Devils, teaming with Shelly Prayson, Alexandra Marshall and Kyrie Dobson to turn in a time of 3:26.43. Stevens won the 100-yard Butterfly in Saturday's event, finishing with a time of 56.95 to claim victory.
