FAST Invite Recap

WTSC got the new year started in earnest with an impressive showing at the FAST Mudsock Classic. An updated Honor Roll is posted on the club website and at the pool but there were several noteworthy performances that are highlighted below. Qualifying for the next level of championship meets is a huge moment in the career of any swimmer and three WTSC swimmers had such a moment in Fishers. Katie Countryman (50 Back) and Liam Fahey (100 Breast) both made the first Age Group State cuts of their respective careers. Way to go Katie and Liam! Brody Friend (50, 100 & 200 Free; 100 Breast) made his first AG State cuts of the season at FAST and Emily Buening added a new cut in the 50 Free. Not to be outdone, Lillian Tabor made the first Divisional cut of her career in the 50 Back. Way to go Lillian! Duygu Arseven (50 Back; 100 Breast), Kiernan Fahey (50 Free), Elle Kremer (100 Breast) and Lily Wolfe (100 Free; 200 IM) all added new Divisional cuts to their lists as well. Emily Buening (100 Breast) and Colin Parker (100 & 200 Free) picked up first place finishes on the weekend, a tall order against a fast field of competition. And Evie Papachronis (8&Under) and Colin Parker (11-12) both finished 5th in their respective high point races. Thanks to all parents for being understanding and flexible regarding the changes to the meet due to the winter weather, and congratulations to all WTSC swimmers on a great weekend of racing.

Mid-States Recap

Prior to our full team effort in Fishers, two WTSC swimmers represented Team Indiana at the Mid-States All Star Championships. Emily Buening finished 2nd in the 1,650 Free, 11th in the 500 Free and 13th in the 200 Free, while Colin Parker finished 3rd (50 Free), 4th (100 Free) and 8th (200 Free) while swimming on the 4th place 200 Medley Relay and the runner-up 200 Free Relay. Colin and Emily contributed to a dominating performance by Team Indiana, who nearly doubled up runner-up Ohio and defended their Mid-States title. Way to go Colin and Emily and congrats to all Team Indiana swimmers.
