AROUND THE POOLS
Age Group 1 and Age Group 2 has shown steady and remarkable improvement with their stroke technique and focus. I look forward to seeing them perform at their championship meets so they can see for themselves how their hard work pays off. -Coach Wendy; Age Group 3 has made great progress with the new additions to the group since NYE. We've been adding more aerobic work on top of our structured technique work. Junior 1 has made noteworthy progress over the season with many swimmers qualifying for Silvers and Age Group Champs. The training cycling will be adjusted to account for their increased abilities after Champs are over. -Coach Jamie; It has been a wonderful treat for me to be getting back on deck with the Junior Senior and Crimson Groups the past few weeks, especially as we near championship season. It is exciting to see how the athletes have grown and changed in only two and a half months to prepare themselves. I am looking forward to seeing all the tremendous hard work that has been put in in my absence at the upcoming meet(s).-Coach Jen; The North Shore Age Group swimmers are doing very well adding more skill sets to their technique work and more aerobic work to their practices. We are completely committed to these swimmers for the long haul, as Dr. Z’s late friend, Bo Schembechler said, “Those who stay will be champions!” – Coach Amanda; The club is in a state of growth and progression right now. My training program is starting to take hold throughout the club and I’m happy with the mid-season results. We have new members joining the team both North Shore and Boston so please join me in welcoming them to the family. Lastly, remember that swimming always has another race and the training plan is built to develop the kids continually into their 20s. I’m excited to watch everyone compete this championships season, Go Crimson! – Coach Chris.
SWIM MEET RECAP
Shout out to Elsa Cohen for competing in her very first swim meet. Annika Cohen has been extremely focused as of late and came into the meet ready to race and left with all best times, congrats!
Maya Hernandez’s months of diligence have paid off with improved technique and well-earned time drops. Brandon Musaku leads the North Shore Seniors as he continues to improve because of his dedication to training. The entire North Shore Age Group program swam well and achieved some best times including Theo Thomas, Erik Bischoff, Ethan Curran, and Caroline Brabeck.
Swimming is like other sports that have a post-season. Our climax to the season is a championship meet. We have meets of all levels and everyone is a part of one of them. You should be notified by your group coach which meets will be your focus. At Crimson, we expect that families make every effort to attend their championship meet. Every kid plays a role on the team and we need them to be there. It is also a major part of their development in the sport. Eventually, college coaches are looking for the swimmers that can perform the best at championship meets.
Save the Date for the Crimson Banquet. We are hosting the banquet this year on Sunday May 6 at the Newton Marriott. We will be doing a silent auction to offset the cost of senior gifts and the ‘green screen’. We are looking for donations to the auction, please contact Diana Knightly with any items you are able donate. In the past, we had a signed football from Tom Brady, Red Sox tickets, a Bourbon Collection as examples.
DEXTER SOUTHFIELD SWIM SEASON
On days the Dexter Southfield swim team has a home meet, Crimson practice will be moved to West Roxbury. Do your best to check the calendar in the Group Schedule tab(s) and read emails from your group coach.
