ORCA victorious at RW Champs Meet

ORCA victorious at RW Champs Meet

FULLERTON – A strong team effort propelled ORCA to victory at the FAST RW Championship Meet held at the Janet Evans Swim Complex. ORCA tallied 3,096 points to easily outdistance the second place Mission Viejo Nadadores with 2,490 points. Brea Aquatics was third, a hair behind MVN with 2,456.5 points.

ORCA had 10 relay teams take first place at the meet but didn’t even need those points to secure the championship as the individual efforts were enough to topple the competition.

The ORCA contingent swam to a total of 162 best times with 56 new time standard achievements. Mekala Valentin (15) was the team’s top point scorer with 150 points while taking first place in six individual events. Jason Wartenberg (11) was the top scorer on the boy’s side with 131 points.

Noelle Horton (10) as a perfect 7-for-7 in best times for the meet while Makena De La O
(11) was 5-for-5 in best times and dropped over 10 seconds in two different events. Tom Lemoncito (15) had the largest time drop with a 28.13 reduction in the 400 IM and Grace Wharton (12) was just behind that with a 27.22 drop in her 500 freestyle.

The next meet up is the Spring Blue Short Course Championship Meet hosted by AZOT on February 9-11 at Woodbridge High School in Irvine.
