A Big Thank You From Our Coaches

Good Afternoon Chinooks,

On behalf of our coaching staff we would like to offer a very sincere thank you to all of the parents who were able to initiate the process of becoming an Alaska Swimming official at the Winter Splash Meet. It was encouraging to see so many of you learning and asking questions.  Your time on behalf of all swimmers is very much appreciated!

This weekend’s Valentine meet offers another opportunity for our initiates to continue their training and for new volunteers to step forward.  As the “ Appeal from Our Coaches” mentioned, there is a critical shortage of officials to ensure that our meets run smoothly. And...you don't have to arrive with competitive swimming experience!

So, please come on down to the deck and make yourself known to the deck officials *If you are uncertain, just ask at the computer desk).  They will assign you a trained partner to shadow and learn from during the meet.  You can participate on Friday, Saturday or both.  In addition, a brief informational training will be offered at the end of the 500 free on Friday evening.  The Alaska Officials Admin., Heather Snelders, will be leading the training.  If you have questions you can reach her at: 907-707-4076.

Our team is now one of the larger teams in the state with over 150 swimmers and 300+ associated adults.  The goal by next August is to have 20 volunteers trained as officials.  This will help us spread out the load currently carried by six CAC parents.

Again, thank you for supporting swimming.  See you at the meet this weekend!
