PRACTICE CHANGES

There are a couple practice changes for the weekend, due to the Super Bowl.

Sunday, February 4
Developmental swimmers will swim at New Castle from 2:00-3:00 PM.
Age Group swimmers will swim at New Castle from 3:00-4:00 PM.
Winter Instructional practices at both locations will remain at their normal times.

Looking forward, there will be significant practice changes for all groups on the weekend of February 10-11, due to the swim meet that Delaware Swim Team is hosting.  We will announce practice changes for the weekend of February 10-11 in next Wednesday's email.

PIRATE PLUNGE VOLUNTEER SERVICE POINTS

Service points for the Pirate Plunge meets have been applied to everyone's accounts.  Please check your account and double-check to make sure that your service point balance is correct.  Contact Coach Matt at matthewaungst@freestyles.org if you notice any discrepancies.

You can look up your service point balance and history at delawareswimteam.com>My Account>$My Invoice/Payment>gray "Service Hours" tab.

DOUBLE LAST CHANCE/LAST CHANCE MINI MEET VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Volunteer positions for the Double Last Chance Sub-JO and Last Chance Mini meets will open today, January 31, at 9:00 PM.

If you only have an 8 & Under swimmer, this is basically your last chance to volunteer at a meet while your swimmer is participating.  There are two days of the meet in which you can volunteer.  Keep this in mind if you have a balance of volunteer service points that you have to fulfill.  You may also volunteer at our last meet, Silver Champs, in March.

If you have a balance of volunteer service points that you have to fulfill and you want to work them off a little quicker, the finals sessions for the Double Last Chance meet, which will be in the evenings each day, are worth 7 points per position.  Normal volunteer positions are worth 5 points.  The finals positions are worth more because it is typically harder to fill these positions, since there are fewer swimmers in finals than in a prelims session, and more points for finals volunteer positions incentivizes everyone to help out at finals.  While positions will be open beginning tonight, January 31, you will also have the chance to volunteer when the finals session actually starts, on February 10 or 11, provided there are still spots remaining.  So, if you are unsure now if your swimmer will make finals that weekend, but then it turns out that your swimmer makes it to finals, you can sign up to volunteer on the spot and still get the same service points.  Volunteer positions will be first-come-first-serve on the days of the meet, assuming positions are still empty, just like volunteer positions are first-come-first-serve during sign-ups online the week before a meet.

DOUBLE LAST CHANCE/LAST CHANCE MINI MEET ENTRIES

Entries are closed for the Double Last Chance Sub-JO and Last Chance Mini meets.

The coaching staff has made several additions or changes for many swimmers for the Last Chance Mini Meet, with the intention of getting prepared for Mini Champs.  Remember, this meet is the last chance to get times or update times for Mini Champs.

The coaching staff has also made some changes for a few swimmers for the Double Last Chance Sub-JO Meet, with the intention of preparing for the several championship meets in March.  Remember, this meet is the last chance to qualify for most of the March championship meets.

CONTRACT EXTENSIONS

If your contract is set to end at the end of March, but it turns out that you want to stick around for a couple more months, we can extend you contract.  This is very simple for us, especially if you ask us to do it before March 1.  The practice schedules for each of the groups running right now will remain the same in April and May.

If you wish to have your swimmer's contract extended, please contact our administrative staff at dstswimoffice@gmail.com.  Please make sure to indicate your swimmer's name, the group that the swimmer is currently in, and how long you want your contract extended until.

SPRING CONDITIONING

Our Spring Conditioning group will be opening soon.  This group, which is a separate group from any group currently practicing and will remain practicing through the spring, will run from April 2 to May 25.  If you have a child who did not swim with us through the season, but may want to swim for a couple months to prepare for the summer swim league season, this group would be a great fit.  We will have more information on the group in the coming weeks.  You may also ask Coach Matt at matthewaungst@freestyles.org if you have any questions.

LOST & FOUND

Did your swimmer lose a DST clothing item at the Pirate Plunge meet?  Contact Coach Matt at matthewaungst@freestyles.org if you did.  Please indicate the article of clothing, the color, and the size, to verify that it is yours.

Items that were not DST-labeled clothing were kept by the UD staff.  Contact the Carpenter Sports Building front desk at 831-8600 if you lost anything else.

As a general note, swimmers should have their names on anything brought to any swim meet, so it is much easier to figure out who left something if it is left around by the end of the meet.

Thanks,
The Delaware Swim Team coaching staff
