RENO News - 2/5/18

Good Afternoon,

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Please read through this email for important information:

New Coaches

I am very excited about the future of Reno Aquatic Club! Last week, we hired three outstanding coaches – Emma Lyda, Erin Fuss, and Susan Whitehouse – to assist with our age-group program. Each coach brings something unique to our program. I am confident your child will improve his/her technique, speed, and confidence in the water.

Here is a quick introduction to each coach:

Emma Lyda

Emma is a Reno Aquatic Club alum. She swam for RENO throughout her childhood and earned an opportunity to continue swimming in college at Notre Dame College in Ohio. She competed for the Falcons for two years before transferring back to UNR. She is currently attending Nevada studying Accounting.

Emma spent her high school years doing swim lessons for children throughout the community. She will be assisting with the Mini Reno group and the Blue and Orange group. Emma will frequently be in the water and helping the coaches with demonstrations and stroke corrections.

I am very excited for Emma’s passion to help kids improve in the water. She brings awesome energy and excitement to our age-group program!

Erin Fuss

Many of you know Erin already. She is a former RENO coach and is returning to coaching after taking a break. Erin grew up in Nampa, ID and moved to Reno to attend and swim for the University of Nevada. After an outstanding swim career at UNR, she continues her passion for the sport by coaching.

For the time being, Erin will be on deck three days a week. Those three days she will be coaching the Mini Reno group and an offshoot group from our Orange group.

I am really happy Erin is coming back to RENO! She has a passion for swimming that is contagious and it will help our swimmers grow and improve.

Susan Whitehouse

Susan has been a part of Reno Aquatic Club for a couple years – her daughter, Cassie, is in the Orange group – and now she will be coaching for us. Susan has a very extensive background as a swimmer and coach. A few of her coaching positions include: Head Coach for the Visalia Area Swim Team, Head Age Group Coach for Patriot Aquatic Club in Illinois, Head Age Group Coach for City of Midland Swim Team, and an Assistant Coach for the University of Nevada. Susan also swam for the Wolf Pack and was an Olympic Trial qualifier.

She will be coaching our Blue group.

Susan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to RENO. I am looking forward to her helping shape our age-group swimmers!

With the three new coaches and Melanie, I am very excited for our staff. I am confident in all of them as coaches, and I do believe you will be happy with them too. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thank you for your patience as I hired our outstanding staff!

Minden Meet

The Mardi Gras Mania Meet in Minden is this weekend. RENO has 62 swimmer registered! Thank you for registering your child. Later this week, I will send out an email with details about the meet.

Due to the meet, there will be NO practice on Friday, February 9 for ALL groups.

Communication

It is very important for me to maintain solid communication with our team’s parents. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, and/or feedback, please feel free to reach out to me.

I am doing computer/administrative work for the team between 11 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday. This is the best time to reach me. If you send an email or leave a voicemail outside of that window, I will do my best to return your email/voicemail ASAP.

Thank you for your continued support of Reno Aquatic Club!

Ryan
