Good evening Rapids families!

'Tis the season for sicknesses.  If your swimmer is feeling a little "off"  please keep them home from practice.  The flu seems to be spreading rather quickly through our groups and while the coaches appreciate dedication, it is not worth risking the health of your swimmer and their teammates.  The pool atmosphere is a great place to breed germs and the swimmers are in very close quarters during practices.  If your swimmer has recently been diagnosed with the flu and seems to be feeling better after a few days , I do not want to see them back in the water for at least week.  According to my go-to resource for health issues- WebMD :-)  you are contagious for 5-7 days after you start feeling sick and kids may be able to spread the virus for an even longer period of time.   For the sake of everyone (including the coaches!!!) please err on the side of caution and have your kids rest a little longer.  On a side note, I will be holding off assigning timers for the meet this weekend until Thursday in case more kids get sick- if you do not let me know that you need to scratch before assignments go out, you still need to find a replacement for yourself.

I hope those who are sick feel better soon and I'm sending positive vibes to everyone else to stay healthy!!!
