CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS

Regionals is this weekend which kicks off the championship season. Championship meets are our playoffs in swimming. Please take them seriously as they matter to kids from all the different groups. Sometimes relays are at the end of a long session. Remember, you wouldn’t take your kid away from the basketball game if it went in to overtime so don’t even think about not staying for relays. Every effort is made to make each championship meet a great environment for those kids. Crimson Central has a policy of not swimming in every meet so that the kids in each level have their own meet. Of the 28 men and women that make the US Olympic team only 14% of them were at Age Group Championships at age 12. 86% of the Olympic Team improves from age 13 on so please remember there is always another meet and treat everyone with respect.

AROUND THE POOLS

The Junior group in Boston is small right now due to high school swimming but the work being done is huge! Liam Mitchell, Alekq Sierra-Martinez, Michael Pan , Tian-Hao Zhang and Peter Mou have been putting in excellent work together and making big strides forward as a group.

STANDOUT SWIMMERS IN JANUARY

JUNIOR 2 BOSTON: Hard to differentiate between these boys who are doing a great job. Liam Mitchell has been making practice a priority and kicking butt while here. He is focusing hard on his freestyle to adjust his technical skills and catch the senior boys. AGE GROUP 1 BOSTON- Kennedy Cribbins, she has been more focused in practice and has consistently been leading her lane. AGE GROUP 2 BOSTON- Rachel Nussbaum, she has been working extra hard on her backstroke and has qualified for Silvers, CONGRATULATIONS! CRIMSON GROUP NORTH SHORE- Julia Donahue has made a great month of training and helping her teammates Andrea, Ellie, Elizabeth and Sam push harder.

REMINDERS

USA Swimming Safe Sport is a program designed to educate and be proactive about a healthy environment and not to react to incidents that are harmful. Coaches are talking to the kids to speak up to whomever they feel comfortable about anything that doesn’t seem right. The coaches are also continuing to teach the kids about being a good teammate and dealing with difficult confrontations/competitions.

Have fun with your swimming experience. Sometimes the road trips and staying hotels is the most fun part of the season.

Thanks,
The Crimson Central Swim Team coaching staff
