There was a lot of great swimming that athletes affiliated with our club participated in this weekend and we want to take a moment to recognize them.
We had a number of swimmers at the new Star of South meet in Stoughton, WI. The meet is a prelims/finals conference meet for club teams North of the border, West of I-90 and South of the Beltline in Madison. Prelims were Saturday with a short finals session on Sunday. While we had a number of great swims – what is noteworthy is that all of the coaches in attendance voted The Stateline Aquatic Team as the winner of Sportsmanship Trophy! This is great to be recognized by our competition as being good sports. Congrats swimmers! Link to Star Of South Photo Album.
On Sunday, we also had a contingent of four swimmers at the 8&Under All Star Meet in Whitewater, WI. These four swimmers and their families braved some very difficult driving conditions to make it to the UW Whitewater Pool bright and early for warmups. Kolby and Sonny Sheilds, Ella Hayes and Hunter Byrer all swam very well and made the trip and effort worthwhile. As a matter of fact, this was Hunter’s very first meet – after starting his competitive swim career last week! Congrats Hunter! These kids had a great time and met all sorts of other youngsters while sitting in the staging area. Link to 8&Under All Star Photo Album.
Last, but not least, Saturday 2/10 was the NIC-10 Varsity Conference held at Freeport. Stateline had a number of swimmers compete for their respective high schools. The meet was very, very close! The outcome of the meet was determined on the last event of the meet. The Hononegah Boys Swim Team came out of top of a hard charging Guilford by the score of 256 to 254 to claim their 8th NIC-10 Varsity Conference Title in a row! Here are the complete results – very impressive!
The media coverage of the NIC-10 meet was very good. Below are some links to local media outlets:
