New and Notes

Congrats to all who participated in the Winter Open/OSHY Swim Series #9 this past weekend.  There were many new and first times swims and quite a few new state cuts as well!  We had several swimmers attempt the mile (1650), 1000, 500 and 400 IMs for the first time!  These meets are a wonderful way to bring our entire team together to compete at the same time and help build team unity. They also provide a great opportunity for our swimmers to practice racing, learn about themselves and experience excitement, pride, disappointment, determination, perseverance and so much more! We are proud of how many members of our team came together and cheered for and supported one another. Congrats to all!

-Practice Schedule Week of 2/12:  There will be no practice for any group on Friday or Saturday, February 16-17. We will have practice on Monday, February 19.

-USA and YMCA State Meets:  We are approaching the Championship portion of our season with several State Meets coming up.  All athletes who have achieved cuts or who are asked to participate in relays should attend the meet. Please look at the Time Standards for both USA and YMCA State under the Meets and Events drop down tab on our website. If your swimmer already has, or if you think your swimmer is still able to achieve a state cut, or if they will be available to participate in a relay if needed, please commit yes to attend those meets.  If your swimmer is being considered for a relay, a coach will reach out to you within the next few days and weeks.  If you have any questions, please reach out to us.

-Steering Committee Meeting, February 15:  The next Steering Committee Meeting will take place on Thursday, February 15th at the Appleton YMCA in the Plexus Room at 5:45 PM.  All parents are welcome and encourage to attend!

Summer Season Updates:

Hosted Swim Meets:  Our team will be back to hosting two summer meets at the fabulous, new Erb Pool.  The Summer Classic will take place June 16-17.  The Bird Bath Open will take place July 6-8.  Please get those 2 weekends on your family calendar as we know summer schedules fill up fast.  A reminder that every season each family will be responsible for 4 volunteer sessions, 1 set up or tear down, and 2 concession donations, per the Volunteer Policy.

Practice and Meet Schedules: The coaching staff has already begun working on setting up practice times and meet schedules for the Spring and Summer Season. Once we have confirmed and finalized these schedules we will get them sent out so everyone has a chance to review before the season begins. If you have questions about how the Summer Season works please feel free to contact one of the coaches and we will help give you some ideas about what to expect.
