Our Championship Season started off with a bang this weekend at the NJ Swimming 12&Under Silver/Bronze Championships at Berkeley Aquatic Center in New Providence. Our 14 qualifying swimmers left it all in the pool earning top places, career best times, and even some JO cuts.
Congratulations to Nathaniel Kern (50 Fly) and Laura Topolski (100 IM) on their First Places! Other top 3 places were swum by Peyton Berg (50 Breast, 50 Free, 500 Free); Reese Berg (50 Breast, 50 Fly, 50 Free); Kayla Bhagaloo (200 Free); Sadie Cornelius (100 Fly); Ty Hollar (100 IM); and Nathaniel Kern (50 Back, 50 Free).
After a long season of consistent time drops and improvement, this weekend continued the trend. Half of our splashes, 39 of our 77, were Career Best times! Some drops even exceeded 5 seconds like Peyton Berg’s 500 Free (-8.90); Kayla Bhagaloo’s 100 IM (-6.11) and 200 Free (-7.68); Ty Hollar’s 50 Back (-6.98), 50 Breast (-10.67), 100 IM (-10.76); Marcus Innamorato’s 100 IM (-5.94); and Ryan Juckett’s 100 Breast (-5.52); just to name a few. Some were JO cuts, like swims by Reese Berg (50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 50 Free); Ty Hollar (100 Free, 50 Back, 100 IM); and Nathaniel Kern (100 IM, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 50 Free). There were also 18 Silver times swum. Wow.
Our NJB Record has been updated thanks to swims by Marcus Innamorato (100 Back) and Peyton Berg (50 Free, 500 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly). Congrats!
To our 12&Unders who are now finished with their season, well done! Enjoy the rest between now and Long Course, and see you at the banquet (info for both coming soon)! For those moving onto JOs (and all 13 & overs), practices resume. Seniors and Intermediates same time/place, but Juniors only during the first hour (Junior 1 slot).
Good luck to our 13&Overs at Silver/Bronze this coming weekend!
