Ten Brantford Aquatic Swimmers competed in the 2018 Ontario Spring Provincial Championships over the March 1 to 4 weekend, in Etobicoke. The four-day meet had over 960 swimmers from all over the Province.
Sebastian Paulins (19) who trains with the Western Mustangs at Western University represented his age group club for two events and medaled in both. He finished 3rd in the 200 butterfly and 1st in the 400 freestyle. Alanna Casasanta (13) just missed earning a medal in the 200 breaststroke finishing 4th. She also finished 6th in the 400 IM and 7th in the 100 breastroke. Her sister Gabriella Casasanta (13) finished 5th in the 100 butterfly in a personal best. She would set personal bests in eight of the nine swims she raced. Graydon Dickson (15) finished 4th in the 100 breastroke with a personal best. Tristan Berridge (14) competing in his first Provincial championships swam to best times in all three of his individual events. Adi Brumaru (15) set personal bests in both his 50 free and 200 breaststroke. Emma Cabral (14) just missed the top eight in the 800 freestyle with a 9th place finish. Marion Denny (16) competed in three events and was right on her personal bests. Max Dobie (15) set personal bests in three of his four individual events and Gabrielle Eivers (15) set a personal best in her 100 fly and just missed finishing in the top eight in her 200 fly with a 9th place finish.
A number of the swimmers will have the quick three day turn around and compete in the Ontario AA Championships in Markham March 8th to 12th.
