RACE at 12&Under Kentucky State Championship

RACE had an outstanding weekend at University of Louisville for the, 12&Under Kentucky Swimming 2018 Short Course Championship

Here is a look into RACE at the meet:

Addison Browning
10&Under Girls
50 Backstroke
Addison, in her first State Meet, was seeded 18th going into the meet. She dropped over 2.5 seconds to qualify for finals in 9th place. She came back to finals, determined, and held on to her 9th place spot with another awesome swim!!

Caroline Calloway
11-12 Girls
200 Freestyle Relay, 200 Medley Relay
Caroline, in her first State Meet, was both the lead off and anchor swimmer for our Girls Relays. She lead off the 200 Free relay and anchored our 200 Medley Relay. She did an excellent  job getting our relay out fast in the Freestyle and bringing them home in the Medley!

Emory Gardner
11-12 Girls
200 Freestyle Relay, 200 Medley Relay
Emory, in her first State Meet, was the second leg of our 200 Free relay and our Breaststroker on the Medley Relay. She collectively between both relays split, 3 seconds faster than her previous best times!

Caden Moseley
10&Under Boys
200 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke
Caden, in his first State Meet, had a busy weekend swimming all three days. He started off the weekend Friday night, shaving 3.5 seconds off of his 200 Free. Saturday he dropped over 2 seconds in his 100 Back. He finished strong on Sunday with the 100 Free and 50 Back, dropping over a second off his 50 Back. Caden showed great poise and perseverance in his busy State Meet debut!

Owen Renfrow
11-12 Boys
50 Breaststroke
Owen, in his first State Meet, came off of a busy week to meet us in Louisville. He had just finished working the WKU -NIT tournament game and the KHSAA state basketball tourney in Lexington. He did a great job of getting up and RACE'ing against the best Breaststrokers across the state!

Carolina Wheeler
11-12 Girls
200 IM, 500 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 100 Fly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle Relay, 200 Medley Relay
Carolina had a very busy weekend at the meet and, she also celebrated her Birthday over the weekend! Friday night she dropped, over 2 seconds and over 10 seconds in her 200im/500 Free, respectively. Saturday she swam the 50 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Free, where she dropped nearly a second in the 100 Fly, to move up into 17th place. Sunday, on her Birthday, she finished off the weekend with the 100 Free and 50 Fly dropping nearly a half a second between the two, on the last day of a long weekend. Carolina  also brought our girls home fast as the anchor of our Free relay and the Butterflier on the Medley Relay!

Sarah Zoellner
11-12 Girls
100 Butterfly, 50 Breaststroke, 200 Freestyle, 50 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle Relay, 200 Medley Relay
Sarah had fast, yet busy weekend in Louisville. She swam three events on Saturday; the 100 Fly, 50 Breast and 200 Free. She dropped over 2.5 seconds in her 100 Fly and over 1.5 seconds in the 200 Free. She also qualified for the 50 Free on Saturday, but was limited to three events a day, per the entry limits. She finished up Sunday with the 50 Fly, which she dropped a little time and moved into the 19th spot. She also did a great job as the 3rd leg of our 200 Free relay, and tasked with getting or Medley relay out fast as our Backstroker!

Congratulations to Addison, Caroline, Emory, Caden, Owen, Carolina and Sarah on all your hard work to qualify and back you at, The 2018 12&Under Kentucky State Championship!

It was an awesome, fun, exciting and memorable weekend, with priceless experience gained by all. We will look to carry the excitement into practice and work towards the next meet!
