The countdown clock has started! We are excited for this year's BIG team fundraiser, and hope to raise a ton of money for our team. As a non-profit organization, the monthly dues that we charge our families are only part of the money required to cover all of the operational costs our team sees each year.
So each year we run a USA Swimming Foundation approved fundraising event called a Swim-a-Thon, which brings all of our kids together for a two hour swimming event where they swim as many laps as possible. The SWAT Swim-a-thon will occur on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Cheney and Whitworth.
5% of the proceeds raised from our Swim-a-Thon goes back to the USA Swimming Foundation to support youth learn-to- swim programs and to provide financial support to our U.S. National Team athletes and coaches. By donating to our Swim-a-Thon fundraiser, you are not only providing funds to build a stronger team at home, you are helping to give kids across the country the same great experience in the pool.
Everyone gets involved at this family friendly event! Our athletes fundraising participation raises money from friends and family which is critical to financially helping out our team. Your support of our Swim-a-Thon is very much appreciated!
Packets for donations will be handed out at practice (one per family) this week, in case you would like to get a head start in collecting your donations during spring break. You can also take some time to set up your on-line fundraising through the SWAT team unify website. This way you can reach out through your email contacts and social media to boost your efforts, and your supporters can donate via credit card. For off-line donations, please have checks made payable to Spokane Waves Aquatic Team.
Reminder: Let your supporters know that their donations are 100% tax-deductible. For double your efforts, encourage your supporters to apply for any Company Match programs as we are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our tax ID is 91-1741641.
Thanks for all of your efforts in this important and fun team fundraiser, Go Waves!
Lastly, per the annual registration agreements, here is a quick reminder that for the SWAT annual Swim-a-thon each swimmer is required to turn-in a minimum of his or her monthly training fee. For families with multiple swimmers, the cap is $250.00. If you chose not to participate, you will be invoiced the monthly training fee in June or July. Thank you!
