PSW is Swim BC Tier 1 Champions!!!!

As the championship season is coming to an end, a team of 27 PSW swimmers headed up to Penticiton on March 9th- 11th for the Swim BC Tier 1 Championship Meet. This meet brought together the top young swimmers from all corners of the province, for a fun and fast weekend at the pool. With hard work, determination, and some great team work, our PSW swimmers came together to win the overall team banner, becoming Tier 1 Provincial Champions! Our entire community is so proud of the swimmers, and so excited to watch each and every one of these young swimmers tear up the pool in the future!

Leading the group of PSW swimmers up in Penticton, was the youngest swimmer of the championship team, one of our Junior 1 swimmers, Kelly Qi. Kelly medaled in 7 of her 8 events, winning the 200 Breaststroke and 200 Butterfly in the 10 and under category. She swam to 10 out of 11 best times, with her times now ranking her as one of the top 10 and under swimmers in the country. Oliver Allen, Elden Wu, Renee Weng, Edison Liu, Selina Jiang, Justin Jiang, Sophia Howie, Elina Huang, Alex Guo, Sabrina Blaskovich and Vicky Zhang, were all 100% best times over the course of the weekend, which helped them move up the rankings, and help win PSW the championship banner. Jorga Olver had a breakthrough meet in the Breaststroke events, making her a swimmer to watch in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke in the future. Molly Zhang, while competing in her first provincial level meet, posted an almost 30 second best time in the 400 Freestyle, and posting a scoring swim for the team! Selina Jiang, also competing in her first provincial level meet, had an amazing swim in the 200 Breaststroke, finishing on the podium, claiming the silver medal.

More podium finishes came from Ray Cao (50 Free), Daniel Wang (200 Butterfly), Matthew Wang (100 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 400 Freestyle, 400 IM, and 50 Freestyle), Justin Yeom (100 Butterfly, 200 Butterfly), Charles Zheng (100 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle), as well as the 10 and under Girls Relay Teams, and the 11 and under Boys Relay Teams.

This is a very exciting time for the Pacific Sea Wolves community, with so many young swimmers making a splash on the provincial stage. The team and its swimmers have definitely showed the country that we are a team to watch going into the future, and we can’t wait to see what our swimmers will do in season to come!
