Coaches update Mar 12th, 2018

UPDATE MAR 12 TH , 2018
Hard to believe how time flies, we are already almost half way through the month of March and
have started March Break
I wanted to start by congratulating all swimmers who have competed over the past two weekends. From
our Aces 3 and 4’s to our Provincial Champions you all did us proud.
I want to apologize to everyone for some errors I have made recently. No excuses, just a bit swamped
and didn’t plan well enough in advance. You see my job is not just coaching on the pool deck, it is way
more then that. For those who take the time to see what the coaches on a swim team do, they will know
that we work hard to help your children become the best swimmer they can be.
Yes, I am human, and I make mistakes, and I own up to them.
Now as parents, complaining about everything to the board or coaches is not constructive in helping the
team become successful. If you want a successful team, you as well need to be supportive, no negativity.
We don’t want Energy vampires, we want people that are willing to help us be the best we can be.
Below is one of my favourite quotes about teamwork. I think we need to remember this, we are all
different, we all make mistakes, we all are working for the best of this team. We all have different ideas
of how that looks but remember we should have one common goal: The SWIMMERS!
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
Henry Ford

THOUGHT OF THE DAY FROM THE ASCA WORLD CLINIC
Here is a piece of recovery that we talk about. Video game limitation to where it is non-
existent at a certain time of the season, because that stimulation and emotion that the guys
put into it is amazing. There is no rest in that, your heart rate is up, you're yelling,
screaming and sweating, that does not look like recovery. So we talk about limiting that at
certain times in the season
